Summary
I’m a software engineer at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, where I build data tools and dashboards for the Mars Perseverance Rover. My path started in mechanical engineering at MIT and moved into software, and I’ve always kept an art practice alongside it (paintings and sketches). Data visualization is where the two meet: making complex information clear, and sometimes beautiful. Below are projects in data viz, software, and analysis.
Experience
- Engineered automated pipelines for drill bit exchange tracking, actuator exposure metrics, and degradation detection, giving planetary science teams a basis for long-term trend analysis (6 years of data).
- Maintained and extended regression testing infrastructure for flight software modules, catching and reporting critical bugs before deployment to an active planetary mission.
- Built and maintained Python tooling for real-time thermal operations and downlink analysis on the Perseverance Rover, removing the need for a dedicated thermal downlink role (~10 hours/week).
- Trained 15 new team members and wrote the wikis, procedures, and onboarding documentation used across thermal, robotics, and operations teams..
- Built a Python-based analysis toolkit with unit Pytests for over 1,000+ sols of thermal data, delivering key insights for the Mars Sample Wheel Steering Actuators Extended Life Test Plan.
- Uplinked sequences for drilling and rock collection in the search for biosignatures on Mars, including the Cheyeva Falls sample.
- Designed Python scripts in ro_events and ro_trending to analyze and visualize drill bit exchange events and ACA exposure, enabling long-term degradation detection and sample exposure metrics for science teams.
- Led development of a MATLAB/Tom Sawyer Software toolkit to visualize heat flow data, streamlining analysis for JPL thermal engineers.
- Performed detailed thermal analysis and developed correlated thermal models for multiple missions, including: Europa Clipper Magnetometer; Mars Oxygen In-Situ Resource Utilization Experiment (MOXIE); Actuator Thermal Management Systems.
- Conducted uncertainty analysis on ampacity temperature measurement sensitivity for the National Electrical Safety Code assessment project.
- Designed, executed, and analyzed experiments on induced magnetic fields caused by thermal gradients.

Minesweeper originally written in Java but converted to JavaScript for this website. It was an exercise in Object Oriented Programming and recursion (used in the flooding function in areas where there are no mines).
First classic coding poject. Originally written in Python. Translated to Javascript
An interactive adoption analysis page with word clouds, GDP vs adoption visualizations, an international adoption map, missing-data transparency, and source citations.
